The Galaxy S4 isn’t going to be available until April 26, 2013. Samsung is still negotiating deals with various wholesalers and companies so only the release date is confirmed; there is not even a price available yet. Experts are using previous Samsung Galaxy phones to estimate the price, and expect it to be about the same as Apple’s iPhone 5; making it direct competition.

There is no information about pre-orders available yet or if there will be any deals. Samsung have a habit of offering seasonal deals, such as the “buy a phone, get a free tablet” deal that was available in many UK stores over Christmas 2012.

Samsung’s Features Battle Competition Around the Globe

While Apple’s iPhone 5 seems to be the phone of choice for many people, there are others on the market. Google’s Nexus 4 sold out with 30 minutes when it was released at the start of 2013, so is becoming a major competition for Samsung. In fact, the Galaxy and Nexus are direct competitors since they both use the same Android operating system; the Galaxy S4 will use the updated 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system, compared to the Nexus’ 4.2. Nexus users will have to wait for the update.

The new Galaxy S4 is thinner and lighter than both the Nexus 4 and the iPhone 5. It has a 13MP camera, compared to the 8MP camera in both the Google and Apple counterparts. The front camera is just 2MP, which is still more advanced than the 1.3MP and 1.2MP cameras respectively, although the front camera is mainly for the eye-tracking technology.

Samsung has added the S Voice Drive to the new device. What does this mean for you? You can drive and use the phone, without ever having to take your eyes off the road or hands off the steering wheel. The phone has inbuilt technology that knows when your car starts, and starts voice activation automatically – it will read text messages, write them for you as you dictate, and make phone calls for you. This is more advanced that the iPhone’s Siri where you have to push a button to activate the voice command program.

There are 16GB, 32GB and 64GB memory options available. This sounds the same as the Google and Apple phones until you take into account the ability to add external memory. Unlike the others, Samsung offer the ability to add microSD cards for extra storage space; perfect for those who enjoy taking photos, want more music or videos on their phones.

Samsung Galaxy S4: Get Ready For The Buzz

The Samsung S4 looks to be one of the hottest phones on the market. It is more advanced than its current competition and shows the innovation that Apple once had. It runs on the Jelly Bean operating system, so is still familiar for many, but offers the advanced eye-tracking technology and S Voice Drive functions that go one-step beyond other smartphone manufacturers. This phone is out on April 26, 2013, so get ready for the buzz.
