Getting phone calls, text messages or email notifications in the middle of the night is annoying. There is now an app called Do Not Disturb, which gives users the ability to set times when the setting automatically turns on.

This can be set during certain hours at night, while you are working or when you simply want time away from the phone.

You can make the settings as personal as you want. All notifications can be turned off during the night, or you could select for only certain people to be able to call you during work. There are times when people will call in an emergency, no matter what time it is.

If you have the Do Not Disturb setting to prevent calls sounds or notifications, there is no need to worry about missing an emergency call. You can set your phone to override the setting when a set number of calls are made from one person.

Personalize your “Do Not Disturb” settings by going into Settings > Notifications > Do Not Disturb. Just change the settings to suit your requirements. You can quickly turn Do Not Disturb on by going into “Settings” and clicking “Do Not Disturb to On.”

No More Google Maps

Apple has removed the use of Google Maps and used its own iOS6 Maps app instead. The idea was that the map would include voice-integration, making getting directions to somewhere easier, which was something Google refused to do. The problem is that iOS6 Maps has already had many issues.
Problems with iOS6 Maps include faulty directions, and changed place names changed. People have been getting lost by using iOS6 maps, but there is currently no alternative. Apple has admitted that their Maps app needs updating but cannot say when it will happen. The good news? The open market is working on alternatives. Nokia has created an app called Here, which is available through Apple’s App Store, and Google is planning a map app for download from the App Store as well. Instead of using the same code that has always been proven to work, Google will be rewriting the code for the app to add 3D for users.

iPad, iPad Mini, iPhone: Updating to iOS6?

Apart from iOS6 Maps, the new operating system is a big upgrade from previous ones, and integrates more with social networks, which is where many people spend their time. On the other hand, if you do not want the integration, it is easy to turn everything off and go back to normal. The Do Not Disturb function is definitely an added benefit for those who want peace from their phones on a night or during working hours, and there are alternatives to the Maps app which has so many issues. All in all, iOS6 should improve your user experience.
